Full body routine gains

Anyone here ever make good gains doing full body workouts? After retiring from sport I’m looking to put on some extra size mostly in the legs but I still will be doing sports a few times a week so I find split body too risky for injury. Also what do you find better; lifting heavy or lifting more for the squeeze in the muscle ?
 
I don't think a split workout would lead to injury more likely than any other workout. But a full body routine would work. I've done it before and it worked well. What I did was only one workset per body part. It's strange at first feels like you're not doing enough, but doing it multiple times per week it adds up to as much volume as a regular workout.

My advice, is not to worry what other people's opinions or experiences are and simply try it out yourself. Find what works best for you.
