I am sure we all feel the cost increase of the groceries in this country, especially the last couple years (Almost like taxing everything effects them , sarcasm obviously because it sure as hell does), before this devolves into a political rant, I will pose the question intended.

What have you noticed that has increased the most and have you found a place to get it cheaper or work around it?
ie- the 1kg of eggwhites went from 4.99 - 7.99 (9.99 some places), and I have yet to find a cheaper option.

maybe we can find a way to help a brother save a buck and get some extra protein in!

Great post, I used to use carton egg white but have switched to whole eggs from a farmer out in the country.
Free range etc 5.00 dozen, if I buy more then 3 dozen it's 3.50 dozen.

Sure it's not as simple as opening and poring the contents however it's cheaper

Chicken Breast - atleast 30% more, doesn't matter where I go, the price is unreal these days.
Switch it out to ground turkey,It sucks and hard to get use to but it's not so bad!
Mix it up in different variations like meatballs with cheese, turkey burgers etc..
Perhaps rather then eatting 2 chickens breast per meal or day sub it out with Tukrey.

I get just egg whites mainly from costco and cook up my anabolic french toast for my breakfasts
i do always have a case of eggs on hand to make sandwiches

Normal ass whole bread bread ,not the expensive kind

Oats are cheap
I make my own cream of rice now - bought a coffee/spice grinder on amazon and it's been amazing to use for that and it costs pennies on the dollar

Also set up a subscription to Canadian protein for all my protein so it's cheaper

You have to be willing to go between multiple grocery stores to find the best for produce, meat, random shit. I have points cards all on my phone i use for coupons and whatever I can use to save.

Yea shopping multiple places really helps.
I dont drink alcohol or smoke or pot, so all my money goes to eatting clean basically and staying on track to a better me where I use to be.
Often the frozen chicken goes on sale at costco but like I said above i sub it out for turkey just cheaper all around.
Then I splurge on quality ground beef

Over the last couple years everything has gone up in price. It's ridiculous. Career wise, since 2022 I took on a more senior level position, which in the first year resulted in a 20% increase in salary, and after a year I negotiated which put me at 40% more than what I was making in 2021. However, even with that, I'm still living the same as I did prior to this madness. I don't splurge on anything, lifestyle didn't change, yet with all the expenses increasing even with the 40% raise, I feel like I'm living the same as I did previously.

To keep costs down as far as food, we don't really eat out. Groceries wise, I'm a bit more strict. I don't impulse buy expensive things. When things like Chicken breast go on sale (for example at Costco $5 off per pack bringing it down to pre 2021 prices), I stock up. Costs me more money initially, but saves money over the course of the month. I cut out things like flank steak as I think it's too expensive. Instead I will buy a whole roast for the family and that will be my beef meal. It's cheaper per kg. Things like that.

Buy meats, vegetables and fruits on sale, buy the meats they have a couple days left before expiry depending where you go there sometimes 50% off, shop at costco, buy in bulk from a butcher, all in all Canada sucks the end lol

I take a Sunday drive into the country side about 45mins and get farm fresh eggs free range at 3.00 dozen.

However I purchase in 30egg flats x 3.
I go every 2 weeks normally.

Buying carton egg whites is a complete and utter waste of money unless on a big sale.

I use also food basic for getting ground turkey and chicken. Then I make meat balls, cabbage rolls etc. Freeze them
4 Tube's of turkey or chicken 10.00..

Don't be fooled by the organic free run meats your see in these big stores. It's a waste of money.

If you want free run or close to wild as possible take a Sunday drive, use Google and get farm fresh meats.

Download the Flipp app on your phones, you can tap each items you want and it saves it to a list, do this over multiple stores save your list. Go shopping!
