Sweatshirts have already been ordered, I just have to add some code so that people can pick sizes ETC. We will be shipping internationally as soon as I work out shipping costs, PM me if you'd like and I can add shipping to wherever you are!

It’s been going on for almost a year for Christ sakes.  If my industry went on strike they’d have us back at work in 6 weeks

If I even threatened to strike with my clients (if I could) I would back in within days, because shit would be on fire.

Haha right on thanks! Was kinda figuring you’d use another form of mailing anyways until that mess is resolved.

    Cheers bro

Hope the strike is done before all the product gets here and I have to send it out.

Don't be silly, I probably won't be shipping Canada Post, depending on when the big order comes in and the strike is over or not.

I left a personal note with your order, for being our first customer. ?

If anyone else is interested, our merch is available here: https://northernlifters.com/store/

I'll be adding more merch soon of course!

Thank you for all the upgrades Jake. Board would be broken without someone such as yourself supporting it

  7. Hey ladies and gents,

Small announcement with some important changes I wanted to cover.

We've come a LONG way since the inception of this board. It may have only been a few months, but the growth has been exceptional, and we couldn't be more happy with the progress everyone here has made.

With this growth, it means we've gotten a more powerful server, provided by yours truly. Back in the day, we didn't have a lot of storage space to offer members, so each account had a limit on how much stuff they could upload GLOBALLY. Meaning that if you uploaded too many photos in your posts, you might hit a limit that stopped you from uploading completely in the future, due to hitting your account limit. With all of the new storage we have, I thought this rule was a little bit on the limiting side, so I got rid of it. However, I realized there was many inconsistencies with some groups and what access they had, and there was a lot of issues between groups on what people had, so I went through all of them and gave everyone pretty much standard access across the board, but obviously more perks for users who have higher ranks on the forums.

Here's a list of upgrades I've given to most, if not all users:

    • All users now have unlimited global storage, but can only upload 10MB per post/ comment / reply, Vets, sponsors, supporters, mods, and admins all have increased limits as well to give them incentives for reaching those titles.
    • Everyone has unlimited storage for PM's which was locked previously to 50. There are still limits on SENDING PM's, but receiving and STORING Pm's is now unlimited, so you don't have to delete old messages. Abusing the new PM limits will surrender your rights and mods and admins can disable your messenger privileges.
    • You can now react to however many posts you want, if you agree with posts, you don't have to run around like Simon Cowell and only give out your 10 reactions, it's unlimited.
    • For those of you hitting limits when trying to upload your super cool ULTRA HD muscles to your avatar, the file size limit for your avatar has been lifted to a whopping 10MB (it was previously 20 times smaller than that). So your avatar can now be better looking than a flip phone picture! The size of the picture can also be 1000 x 1000 now, instead of 150 x 150
    • Name changes are now allowed, however, you are only permitted to change it once per 30 days, and members can track your name change history on your profile. In the future, you will be able to purchase name changes with the point system that will be implemented very soon.
    • Personal cover photos for your profiles can now be unlimited in size, rather than 2MB.
    • For some reason, some groups had limits on how many times they could post in a day. All groups and users can post as many times as they want in a day, there will never ever be limits on that, we love the content our community produces, and this was a configuration error, and will never be enabled again, post to your hearts desire!
    • You can now edit your posts up to an hour after you post them, some users only had 5 minutes before, now it's drastically increased.
    • Gif avatars! You can now upload gifs to your avatar and have an animated profile picture!
    • Many many more limits were also raised, and you may notice them day to day, but they were too minor to post about here.

Once again, we are so happy with the growth of our community since it's inception, and we are excited for the future of this board, if you have any other ideas or limits you want to see raised for regular members, please reply below.

Thanks again NL, and thanks for having me, it's amazing to be here,

    Cheers,

im sure JAKE has a few tricks up his sleeves the guys gifted as hell

Oh this is totally possible. I was planning on implementing a "points" system to the board at some point, so when people are active, post, or do any number of actions, they earn points. This system will allow for raffles etc.

The more people are active, the more they can spend on "tickets" and can be picked for these raffles etc. We can also do a dry run without the points system, just for Christmas, and I can make it so everyone can enter once via a system I can create, not sure how I want to do it yet, but I want to do it for sure. We'd have to talk more about it and see what we could do ?

  9. Hey ladies and gents,

I thought I would make a quick announcement to highlight a huge new feature, a new referral program, as well as some smaller updates at the end of this thread.

First of all, the referral program! I've seen a lot of passionate NL members referring members from old boards as well as personal friends and family, and I thought it was about time we rewarded the folks who are helping our amazing community grow, so that's what I introduced the referral program.

Now there's 2 ways to use the new program, first, all you have to do is tell someone to sign up, nothing fancy, but when they do sign up, they will be met with a new registration screen. And by new, I mean it's the exact same thing, but has one more text box on it, for the new user to tell us which member referred them, so be ready to give whoever you refer to the community your handle. It will look like this:

    r44d3.png

You see at the bottom? A new user can put your name in (in this case, my name) and you'll get credit for referring them, after they make 5 new threads or replies to other threads. To protect against abuse, I will be reviewing these posts and profiles to make sure people aren't just creating alt accounts to get rewards for referring members.

Now this is only one way you can refer members, but say you don't want to have to give instructions and your handle to everyone you refer to the forums, you want a set-it and forget-it method to refer members for your social media etc? Well we can do that too!

In the top right of the forum, click your name and a menu should slide down, under where it says settings, you should see a referrals button, click on that. It should bring you to a screen looking like this:

    gzesp.png

It should be pretty empty, but of course will start to populate as you refer members. Go ahead and click on the settings button, this should bring you to a pop up that looks a little bit like this:

    6rqtu.png

Before you continue, make sure the checkbox under "Collecting referrals" is checked, so that the referrals count towards your account and you are rewarded for it. Now that you have this pop up open, in the big green box shown above, you will be shown your own unique referral link (do not use the one in the screenshot above, I don't want your referrals!) and you can post that on social media, forums you have permission to post on, your own websites, etc. If a user signs up after clicking your unique link, it will automatically be credited to you, but that's only if they sign up via your link.

    Rewards:

Well, obviously we can't let you go empty handed for referring users, so there is a new group on the forums called supporter. It's a role that will make your name and group color orange for as long as you keep referring users.

You can earn it for the first time by referring 5 people to the board, and they will count after they post 5 pieces of content, whether that be threads or replies to other threads, then after that, you have to refer at least 1 user a month to keep the role, or just remain active on the forums. If you are inactive, AND not referring users (as long as you are doing one or the other, you're fine) the role will automatically be removed.

For now, the role is just cosmetic, and doesn't offer any special access, but this may change in the future as the program grows bigger.

More rewards may be added in the future as members refer more and more users to the board, this is still in very early access.

    Other Features Added:

    - There are now small buttons on each members badge that allow you to perform quick actions with another user, instead of having to go through multiple clicks to other pages on the forum just to message someone, or to see their other content. Now you'll profiles looking something like this:

    zg6bx.png

You can hover your mouse over each button to see what you do, this should make messaging other users a lot faster.

    - You may also notice that usernames are now coloured based on whatever group you are in all over the forums, rather than just in posts, just to keep it a unified experience across the forums, and to see which members are part of what groups, rather than everyones names be one colour. It will now look something like this:

    au0gn.png

Okay maybe this wasn't the last thing, but something small I want to add, the 50 limit on personal messages has been lifted, we have plenty of server space, so there's no need for limits anymore.

Well, I think that's it for now, if there are any changes to the referral program (I have a few ideas in mind still) I will update this thread accordingly.

Thanks for your continued support NL, you guy and gals are awesome, and please get those suggestions submitted in the suggestions forum, I'll be happy to take a look and see what we can do in the future. I look forward on working on more features to make the board even better in the future, and I'm happy to be along for the ride.

    Cheers,

P.S. If you've invited someone in the past, please post here that you invited them and what their username/ handle is (not their email), and I can manually add it to your profile.

That makes sense.Mr Jake. At EG, a board I'm a supermod at, there is such a post every time someone registers but what's the point? Some of them are just lurkers .... They won't even answer the thread.

When a forum is new, it's a great way to show that it's active, but once you hit a certain point (10-20 registrations a day), it starts to become too much, and it's just easier to let users introduce themselves whenever they feel, especially with what you said, people sometimes just ignore it.
