Just wondering...did you go to this consult?

Nope.

I asked my pharmacist if he knew anything about them and he didn't but he made some calls and came back with info from other pharmacists that he knows/has worked with, here in town. Then after he told me what he had learned I called the place back and asked some pretty basic questions.

The result of all of this was that basically they are ascam where they will try and bilk you for as much extra over and above what they can bill OHIP, on top of what your extended benefits will allow for a Naturopath visit. The consult, and this is from someone who sat through one, will be like a time share seminar where they size you up and figure out how hard they can push and how much they can get and the try and wheel/deal you into committing to "yearly" packages.

When I called in to ask questions I couldn't even get a straight answer as to whether or not I could get TRT as a stand alone service, or if it was only as a part of a package with a bunch of crap I don't want/need, or a straight answer about what exactly they are billing me for when the stuff is normally covered by OHIP etc. I was leary to start with and then all of this just made me even more so. I have a great relationship with my Pharmacist and trust the info he gave me plus  if you look at the website for this place it is so vague it makes you wonder why and there is nothing but reviews for "esthetics" like botox etc online for them.

I was going to give it a shot but then it seemed pretty obvious that it would be a waste of time and more of an upsetting PITA than anything else so i cancelled.

My wife has a doc ppt coming up on the 28th and I was planning on attending anyway so I'm going to ask her male doc if he's taking new patients and if he'd have me based on my records/needs.

I was going to ask you, but you beat me to the punch lol, if you wanted to get that info to me about your doc so i can look into that as well.

Well, my doctor actually listened to me this time around. I’m up to 150/mg bi weekly instead of the 200/mg weekly I was originally prescribed to, and up from 100/mg every 3 weeks

I see it as a win though, I thought for sure she wasn’t going to continue my hrt, and that there’ll be a fight. Pretty shocking.

Good for you mate. That's great news! Please let us know how you're doing on that dose. At 300mg/week total/week now I wonder if you'll start needing an AI or any other supportive protocols.

Bit of a misunderstanding, it’s 150/mg every 2 weeks and it’s pretty close to my sweet spot which was 200/mg every 2 weeks.

Id be going back to that dosage on my own anyway for the next few months but I’m seriously considering a test cycle right away.

lol, I never understood why bi-weekly can mean both 2X/week and every 2 weeks...thanks for clarifying :{)=

  • 1 month later...

So tomorrow the wife and I are scheduled to drop by the Canadian Blood Services here and drop a pint off. I'm still about a month away from my first bloodwork since starting on the Test E so will be interesting to see where my hematocrit is at. I've have 0 indication of any issue with it and the other day I opened up my arm pretty good just being careless while I was grinding on my ebike frame to make some room for a new part that is too thick to clear without a bit of a mod. Anyway my blood is nice and bright and no apparent change in the viscosity so we'll see.

I give blood after each cycle  so around x 3 times a year it keep my Hematocrit low and blood pressure for me it is a requirement for blasting safely !

Ya, thats the plan here as well. My BP is a little up anyway, not from the TRT, but from one of the meds I take. Nothing serious just a bit so doing everything I can to manage that. My doc, who wwouldn't give me Test, is real quick to try and shove anti-hypertensives at me for being just a little high so I told her that I would start doing a few things different and to give me 6 months and if it wasnt down to normal then we'd talk about the meds again but the point is it's stupid. Tiny bit high throw meds at it, Test levels in the toilet do nothing...sheesh

@Jetpilot Just got back from dropping off a pint. Hematocrit is 14.1 so basically as perfect as it can get. BP is exactly where it should be given the little elevation from the one med I take. pretty happy about that. Just about to start week 7 of the Test E at just under 300mg/week. No sides at all. Going by how I feel my Estradiol is either bang on or close but we'll see when I get my bloodwork done late next month. My DHT was getting a bit up judging from my skin when I was at 300mg so I dialed back and bit and that cleared right up.

All in all I have to say I'm pretty damned happy about things!

Great to hear things are going so well!

I've got my blood test next week so I haven't been boosting anything in the past few weeks.  Hoping for a notch up in my prescription,  we'll see.

But even at 100mg/wk, I continue to see good body comp changes and good moòd and libido effects.

Funny thing....I saw my old training partner last week.  Haven't seen him in a year.  We did several BB competitions in the past (natural). First thing out of his mouth when he saw me:

"Holy shit, have you been juicin'?!!"

Haha!! Can't wait to do an actual mini blast of 3 or 400mg for a few weeks.  Hopefully my wife will still be able to walk 😎

Hehehe, good on you. I've really noticed myself when you know what to look for you can see it in so far as who might be using PED lol... For me I'm just really happy I got close with doseage or so it seems so far as with the meds I take working 24/7 in the other direction I didn't expect to get this close that easily!

I wouldn't do it on my own. When I plan to stay on I'll go to my doc and get a referral to a urologist. If you're doctor is a pest find a urologist you want, go to a walk in and ask for a referral. Might be $50 for the note or something.

If you're staying on why would you want to miss out first on pharm grade, but also the ability to travel with it, the ability to get regular blood work without hassle, etc.

I'm already waiting on referrals to both an endo and a urologist. I have appts they are just a long way off, as in March of 2020 and April 2020. and I didn't have the option to wait. So, I was left with doing it myself or paying a private clinic that I simply can't afford.

@Blitz I was in a hurry headed out the door with my wife when I left my first response so just wanted to follow up with abetter one.

So I'm not sure where you live but not Toronto, where I lived most of my life, and not St Catharines, where I am now, would you ever find a "walk-in" where you could just wander in and get a referral like these. My old Doc of 10 years (25 total but 10 in one stretch) also ran a walk-in and I know there's no way he would do that for a walk-in and he was pretty easy going. It's not just that Doc either but the specialist don't want someone sending referrals just based on what, a walk-in's say so? Not hardly!

My Doc won't be at issue with the bloodwork so no concerns there. For all she knows I'm going to a private clinic and as she turned me down for TRT despite my records showing 10 successful years without a single problem, it's none of her business and the bloodwork if she balks at it will be as a result of the privateers charging every time they pick up a pen, which is the truth!

As for the difference between the Pharma Grade and what I am buying now. All I would ever have to worry about, if that, is upping the dose a bit, and to my knowledge no pharma is using the lovely carrier oil that the gear I'm using has. Nice and thin, really easy to work with and pretty much 0 chance of any allergic reaction to it. In today's world the gear available is really good, if from a solid source, from all of my own research plus what reliable folks have told me. So I'm not sure why I would worry about that vs pharma grade. If you're aware of some other info regarding the diff between the pharma grade and what we can source ourselves in this day and age then by all means share, and I will be sincerely thankful for the knowledge. On top of that, the fight to get a sufficient dose is a guaranteed because even an endo/urologist is going to fight me on going higher to overcome the problem the other meds I take create and force me down to 200mg/week max that will achive nothing but slowing down the process. Maybe they wouldn't but thats a maybe. So all things considered, I like being my own boss in this and not having the hassle of a doc telling my my levels are at 310 now and thats in the normal range so no more man oil for you lol...

The other big factor, as I mewntioned, is I don't have the luxury of waiting until 2020 for the other appts. This is tied into my other health problems and the levels going any lower would have been disastrous for me so taking it into my own hands was the only thing to do.
