Levothyroxine Sodium is a thyroid hormone. This is the synthetic version of the naturally produced thyroid hormone tetraiodothyronine (T4). This is one of if not the most commonly prescribed thyroid hormone on the market. The most well known brand is Synthroid brought to the market by Flint Laboratories in 1955. In fact, most refer to all T4 compounds as Synthroid even if that isn’t the specific brand. It is also a somewhat common item in athletic circles, although Cytomel (T3) is far more common.

Synthroid Functions & Traits

Synthroid is a synthetic thyroid hormone. Like all thyroid hormones its responsibility is regulating the body’s metabolic rate. The manner in which nutrients are utilized is greatly affected and regulated by thyroid hormones. Medically Synthroid is used to treat hypothyroidism. This refers to a condition where the thyroid isn’t producing enough of the needed hormones. This can cause weight gain, lack of energy and even changes in the texture of hair and skin.

By supplementing with Synthroid, this can provide the body with the lacking thyroid hormones. By design, and it works the same when naturally occurring, T4 serves as backup to T3. T3 represents the powerful and effective of the thyroid hormones where T4 converts to T3. That is somewhat simplistic, but that’s the easiest way to understand it. With adequate amounts of Synthroid a lagging thyroid can be improved.

Athletes also use Synthroid for fat loss purposes. This drug is most commonly found in cutting cycles. However, the T3 version is far more common as it is nearly 4 times more powerful than Synthroid. The downside of use for an athlete is lethargy or a lack of energy. Thyroid hormones feed off of ATP and can drain energy stores that are already low when dieting. This can also put muscle tissue at risk. Athletes who use Synthroid are going to use more than what can be naturally produced; that’s the point, to get more of a bump. This can put lean muscle mass at risk. For this reason, thyroid hormones like Synthroid are rarely used without anabolic steroids as a protective agent. However, even if anabolic steroids are present, if calories are too low you may lose a good bit of muscle tissue. There is a precise balancing act of hormones and nutrients that must be present.

Effects of Synthroid

The effects of Synthroid are very straightforward. For the hypothyroid patient, you do not make enough T4 or T3 and now with Synthroid you do, effectively reversing the condition. Medically there isn’t any other positive effect of Synthroid.

For the performance enhancing athlete the effects of Synthroid are also straightforward. You are trying to lose weight (body fat) and cut up and with thyroid hormones you can take things further than you could otherwise. Because Synthroid converts to T3 the active and powerful thyroid hormone, the metabolic rate will be increased thereby causing fat loss to occur at a greater rate. You still have to diet. If you consume more calories than you burn you will not lose body fat. You may be able to keep your total caloric intake slightly higher than you could without Synthroid, but the overall purpose of use is to take what you’re already doing right, add Synthroid and do it a little better.

Synthroid is also sometimes combined with the use of a beta-2 stimulant like Clenbuterol. This will dramatically increase the individual’s fat burning power. For even more of a bump Human Growth Hormone (HGH) might be added. This will turn the individual into nothing but a fat burning machine.

Some HGH using athletes will also add Synthroid to their plans even if it’s not a cutting cycle. This is due to HGH potentially reducing T3 levels. In such cases just enough is added to replace what’s lacking. However, normally direct T3 is the preferred choice in this case since it is T3 that’s being directly affected, but Synthroid can get the job done.

Side Effects of Synthroid

There are possible side effects of Synthroid, but overall it’s considered a relatively side effect friendly medication. In most cases side effects of Synthroid revolve around doses that are too high. Side effects with proper doses do not commonly occur. Possible side effects of Synthroid include:

Nausea

Headache

Irregular or rapid heart rate

Sweating

Irritability

Menstrual irregularities

Increased bowel movements or irregularities

Those who severely abuse the drug may find the side effects of Synthroid to be even more severe. However, they should not occur if the drug is properly used and not abused. The severe side effects of Synthroid can include:

Congestive heart failure

Shock

Hyperthyroidism

· Death – only associated with long-term heavy abuse

Synthroid Administration

Synthroid is taken orally regardless of the reason for use. For the purpose of treating hypothyroidism Synthroid doses will most commonly fall in the 100-150mcg per day range. They may be slightly higher for large individuals, but this will be determined after a period of use has passed. For the purpose of performance based fat loss, use will normally start around 50mcg per day and gradually increase as needed. With short-term use (approximately 6 weeks) the dose is increased 25mcg per day every 1-3 days until the maximum dose is reached. Doses rarely surpass 150-200mcg per day. For long-term use (approximately 12-16wks) the dose is increased 12.5-25mcg every 2-3 weeks as needed with the same 150-200mcg per day dose not being surpassed.

Availability of Synthroid

Synthroid is widely available on the pharmaceutical and black market. It is also available through research chemical labs that produce non-controlled substance in liquid form for research purposes only. This isn’t a commonly counterfeited item and should not be all that expensive unless purchasing the name brand Synthroid itself. Research labs have become the most common avenue for athletic based purchases. Black market steroid suppliers do carry it, but not nearly as often as they do the stronger T3 version.

Buy Synthroid Online – Warning

You can easily buy Synthroid online from numerous outlets, both legally and illegally as well as in the gray area of the law known as research chemical labs. However, if you’re in the U.S. and you buy Synthroid without a prescription you are breaking the law. If you buy Synthroid online from a research lab for personal use you are also breaking the law. These laws can vary from one country to the next and should be well understood before you make a purchase.

Synthroid Reviews

Synthroid is a solid thyroid product, but in no way can it match up or come close to the T3 version. Remember, no matter the reason for use the entire purpose of taking it is so that it will convert to T3. Medically or performance based it often makes a lot more sense to get to the chase and simply supplement with T3. However, some people have a better experience with Synthroid and you won’t know for sure unless both have been used at different times.
