Hey man, that’s a tough position to be in, especially when your body is working overtime just to get through tasks. The goal here is to give you sustained energy, not just quick spikes.
A few things that can help you last longer while cutting firewood:
Start your morning with slow-digesting carbs + protein
Oats with a scoop of protein powder and a handful of berries
Whole grain toast with peanut butter and banana
These will give you a steady energy release instead of a quick crash.
Hydrate + electrolytes before you start
Even mild dehydration will kill your energy fast. Add a pinch of salt or an electrolyte packet to your water before you start working.
Mid-task fuel
If you’re going to be out there for hours, bring something easy to snack on:
A banana or apple with a small handful of nuts
A protein bar with balanced carbs
Greek yogurt with honey (if you have a cooler handy)
Post-work recovery
Don’t skip this if you want to have energy the next day, refuel after.
Lean protein (eggs, chicken, turkey) + a good carb source (rice, potatoes)
A shake with whey, fruit, and almond milk if you want something fast
If your illness allows a little caffeine before work can help, but don’t overdo it, and make sure you’re not relying on it instead of real nutrition.
