Hello

So i think i may have tendonitis/tennis elbow. I have recently started going to a physio therapist.

The injury was caused by overload. I have a physically demanding job and been doing home renovations. It hurts to grip things, push open doors or pick up objects in a stretched out position.

I have been getting my forearm massaged, just had cupping done, and may be moving on to acupuncture next week. The only thing that has helped was taping around my forearm and up my triceps.

Do you have any suggestions on what i can do to help speed up my recovery?

So I created a new topic from the original as that's how they should be labelled.

From what you've described it certainly seems like Tennis Elbow.  If you do resisted wrist extension or finger extension does it hurt in the outside (lateral) part of your elbow? That's a confirmation test as well as specific tenderness on palpation.

The cupping method you do is not, in my opinion, the most effective way, as you are doing nothing more than just pulling on the tissue at one spot.  When I cup, we use lotion on the skin, attach a silcone cup to the muscle at a certain suction % (say 25-50%), and then drag it up and down the muscle belly while stretching the wrist down (flexion)..it's super not fun but works better as a soft tissue release.

Acupuncture will work great, as well as interferential current and ultrasound to draw blood to the area.  Use lots of heat on the outside of the elbow, not ice.

As for exercise, pain free gripping with a wet sponge/towel, playdoh will work to stimulate the tissue. Grabbing a hammer, holding arm out straight, and doing your pronation/supination movements pain free are also effective at creating proper stress.  Finally, using a rubber band wrapped around your fingers and working on opening and closing them with different tensions helps.

ALL movements need to be pain free (or does not illicite more than what you have).  No more heavy gripping, extended arm out gripping and rotation movements for 1-2 weeks, then slowly integrate movements again keeping as close your body as possible before doing further out loading.

Had dry needling done 2 nights ago. What a difference. My comfort level is through the roof and I can grip things tighter than the past month.

I just finished  4 weeks of acupuncture (2/week). Made a huge difference...85% better. However, no alcohol and no heavy lifting during the 4 weeks.

I have a physically demanding job so it slows down my recovery.

I dont consume alcohol either and have avoided the gym for 2 months now.....and it shows

I had it bad.  Wore elbow sleeves while training and some gh.  It will heal over time.

I’ve had it for several years.

Im afraid for some people it never goes away.  I was off training for one year.

When I went back it was still there.

taking Glucasamine Sulfate now...no improvement.

Gotta try those peps I mentioned

Ive had both tennis and golfers elbow in my right arm for a couple years now. Tried everything; physio, putty, exercises , theraband flexbar, you name it. Currently getting cortisone injections every 3’months. They usually work but I think the radiologist screwed up and missed the mark a couple weeks ago, because it’s back.

i too work a man lab job, so I feel your pain (no pun intended).

My dr has me in for a referral to the orthodontist specialist in a few months to discuss surgery or other options. Currently taking naproxen 500’s with some kind of stomach protection, and it helps a bit.

Yeah I’ll look into them and do some research, thank you. Goddamn, I really hope they work.

Would I use them together, staggered or....?

I’ve had bad chronic tendinitis on and off for well over a year. At its best I’m still unable to do pull-ups without pain, or racks/dead’s above 500. At its worst I can barely pick up a drink or a pen.

As I geared up this cycle it flared badly, I was going to come off and focus on core and legs till it got better. As I’ve done in the past.

This time I started using bpc157 and tb500, I switched to light weight on machines while I went thru the protocol and after two weeks on them I was able to start adding weight and different exercises. I couldn’t believe how much they healed in a month still training.

It’s still getting better and I’m lifting heavy. The stuff worked like magic. Highly recommend using them.
