  3. FWIW, I never got a national title (2nd twice). I did win a few regionals including a heavyweight and two overalls. My brother won 2 national titles and only worked out 45mins at lunch time. Gym across from his office. NO FAMILY time impact. Zero! Quality is everything.
  4. My favourite split which I did 90% of the time was simply 2 upper, 2 lower workouts for four total per week. The two uppers for example weren't always identical, but almost always had compound push, compound pull as the core movements. Powerbuilding was how I'd describe it. Concentrated mostly on strength, and size followed. This was all natural though. Went from 178 competition weight, to 205 on stage in about 6 yrs.

  6. Quality vs quantity. I never worked out longer than an hour, usually 45 mins and done all throughout my BB'ing career. Always busy with real life/office job/kids/commute etc.

  8. 300 is more than cruise. You should cruise at the lowest dose that makes you feel well AND keeps blood markers in the green zone. No mention of blood testing going foward, and you discard lifelong dependence in your early twenties?? Big red flags here....

  10. Just to add... I suggest you get the testing strips so you can dial in your carb intake so you're confident on your carb threshold. Many people drop their carbs somewhat and think they're in ketosis and they're not. The strips will tell you the truth.

  12. Couple things to keep in mind with keto IMHO. Many people get a brain fog for the first few days of keto - this will pass, and some even say they feel better on keto after the adjustment period. Also, if you doing endurance training, be careful with electrolytes - have them handy. I was in full blown keto, feeling really good, and went out for a run. Because I was feeling good, I thought I'd go further than usual - bad decision. I was about 4k from home and hit a wall like I've never hit before in my life. There was NO WAY I could have even walked home - not a chance. The legs just stopped working and I was all woozy. Luckily I was running in a suburban area and was only about 100 meters from a drug store. I made it there and chugged about a litre of pedialyte (sp?). If I was running somewhere away from civilization, I'd have been screwed...
  13. Noticeable no. I take it for preventive/protective reasons. Its one of the blood markers I watch. I take 8000/d in the winter and 6000/d in summer to optimize.

  15. I don't have the K2 with me atm, but will definitely send the info later today. And yeah, the niacin flush can be a pain, I got it hard, but the non-flush niacin isn't the same compound and won't deliver the same benefits as I understand it. A better option is extended release, not non-flush. It took me a good 3 mths or so of working up my niacin dose so the flushing wouldn't be so bad - take after eating. Now I rarely get a flush that lasts for more than 10 mins and I just suck it up. Usually now there is no flush at all. This stuff really works for me - lipids dialed right in. My wife took a 500mg niacin by mistake on an empty stomach a little while back. She looked like a ripe tomato ready to burst for an hour!
  16. Curious as to what you do. I've seen my LDL drop almost in half, my HDL almost double, and my triglycerides almost disappear on: 500mg Niacin twice per day (this I think is the main contributor) 250mg Resveratrol twice per day K2(mk7) 120 mcg once per day 4g total Omega 3 (three or so times per day) Three or four ounces of quality single malt scotch per week - one of life's necessities... And I tried Berberine for a while but take only a small amount on non lifting days now. I think this stuff was SO effective at shutting down inflammation responses that I couldn't get ANY muscle soreness no matter how crazy I went in the gym. Now that I'm down to only off-day use, I get a little soreness here and there to remind me I'm still alive.

  18. This is a stretch. Unless there are studies in the last few months that I haven't seen, Cardarine was indeed found to be carcinogenic in rats at WAY higher doses than humans would take for MUCH longer time-frames. Calling it carcinogenic in humans is a stretch at best.
  19. Ok, sure, starving yourself is a good recipe for ditching the diet and fast regain for lots of people. However, fasting as part of a well-designed diet plan is NOT the same as starving yourself. There is way too much info now on the health benefits of fasting to dismiss it. It may be true that fasting is not perfectly optimal for muscle gain and/or muscle retention, but IMHO that misses the bigger picture. The best diet for anyone is the one that works AND the one you can stick to. 'Optimal' doesn't matter if you quit it. FWIW, I have done IF now for over 6 mths. I eat only between noon to 7 or 8pm - every day. I have lost 45lbs of flab and have gained considerable strength and upper body size on 100mg T/wk. I was at or close to my natural limit of muscle and strength beforehand - but yes, fatter than I should be. I may go on some minor building cycles where I eat more and more often, but health-wise and leanness maintenance, Intermittent Fasting and/or time-restricted eating is something I will do probably for the rest of my life - it's that good and easy to stick to. This is coming from a long-time natural BB'ing competitor who has successfully gotten very lean and >200lbs competition weight with no pharma assistance. I know what it's like to diet - hard - and Intermittent Fasting is hands-down the best for me. Thinking of adding in 24hrs of zero calories once per week soon as well.
  20. Yeah, he didn't really explicitly connect it to race, but most immigrants now are non-white, so that's close enough I guess. He may actually be correct, in that too many newcomers don't respect the poppy. Fair enough, but it's not because they're non-white, but again, it's a bit of a stretch to infer this is what he meant. But this is not a free speech issue though. Freedom of speech is freedom from prosecution, not freedom from consequences. If my boss fires me because I spoke something they don't like, well that sucks for me, but it's their right, not a freedom of speech issue. There's another argument if it's on free time, but he was speaking on the boss's dime, and if they don't like it, firing him is within their rights.
  21. I always appreciated Don's soft spot for active soldiers and veterans. A real patriotic guy. Criticizing someone for not wearing a poppy is fine. Connecting it to race isn't, although he didn't exactly say that. Up to Sportsnet to fire him if they want, and up to viewers not to watch Sportsnet if they don't agree.
